Session times vary depending on the age and needs of each child. However, it is common for most sessions to last 30, 45, or 60 minutes.
-
Activities for each session will vary depending on your child’s goals and needs at that time. All therapeutic interactions are play-based and child-led. This means that we follow your child’s interests and natural curiosity when providing care. In addition, trust and safety are paramount to providing quality care from a neurodiversity-affirming lens. Therefore, we follow each child’s cues when beginning and ending various activities and do not force participation. We also respect bodily autonomy and do not use strategies such as “hand-over-hand” or activity chairs that children cannot escape from if desired. Sessions also involve working directly with caregivers to identify and review goals, discuss therapeutic activities, summarize sessions, and plan future goals.
-
Parents or caregivers are encouraged to be actively engage in each therapy session. We also understand that this time may be needed to do other things and you may not be able to be fully present for the entire duration. At a minimum, we require an adult to be inside the house at all times and available for at the end of each session to feedback and debriefing.
